You Asked Me For Peace – Poem

You asked me for peace.

Your request left me perplexed.

Before asking me,

Have you given yourself peace yet?

You have been seeking peace

for a very long time now and:

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in a bottle.

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in a syringe.

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in impulsive buys.

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in between the legs and thighs of others

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in binge watching movies, series and T.V

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in binge eating all kinds of food

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in video games, sports games, all sorts of games.

And you still hadn’t found it yet.

I thought by now, you would know and realize

that the world can’t give you peace.

The world may give you a false sense of peace.

But it’s only fleeting and temporary.

Only Christ can give everlasting Peace.

For he says;

Peace I leave with you:

my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John: 14.27

Yes the contrast between transitory peace and God given eternal peace is well worded in the mosaic of elegant language. Anand Bose from Kerala

I love the poem! This was me and in other ways is still me. What is that quote? “Our hearts are restless until we rest in thee” – St. Augustine.

What dimension are you living? In this world, in this economy, in this establishment there is no place for peace. You are just judging those who were defeated by their own weakness. You don’t know the reason but for sure there are millions of reasons for each one of them. Maybe you are one reason. A disgusting one addicted in the New Testament. The Old Testament is an entire copy of the Talmud. The New Testament was tailor-made by Renaissance artists hired by Roman church. And do you really think that you are smart enough to understand and repeat those verses without questioning at least: Is this decent? Is this honest? Till the 19th century the majority of popes don’t believe in the existence of Jesus. Everything was, is and will be a big business. Wake up!

Hello @Dragon Writer interesting thoughts and questions you have raised…. I think the answers to your questions are surprised in these verse… I do pray the scriptures speak to you and the Holy Spirit opens your eyes as you read them…

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

      23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men…………1 Corinthians 1:20-25
