Finding Your Life’s Purpose, Vision And Mission.
Often times I find many people searching for their purpose in life. Some even take whole sabbaticals just to figure things out. But I think there a few things we should consider when we consider purpose.
When Paul was still a Pharisee, his purpose was to kill the followers of Jesus Christ but the day he had a Damascus moment, his purpose changed.
When Moses was a runaway, his purpose was to hide from the Egyptians but the day he had a “burning bush moment”, his purpose changed.
When David was a shepherd, his purpose was to take care of sheep but the day he met a Prophet Samuel, his purpose changed.
When Balaam was a seer, his purpose was to mostly curse and divine for others but the day he had his “Donkey moment”, his purpose changed.
When Abram was still a childless old man, his purpose was to live in the land of his fathers but the day he had a “God moment”, his purpose changed.
When Peter, Andrew, were still fishermen, their purpose was to catch fish but the day they met Jesus, their purpose changed.
We as humans can’t determine the best purpose for our life. Yes, we might choose based on free will but our choices will pale in comparison to what God has in store for us if we decide to follow his leading instead of our own egos.
If we want to get the best out of life, instead of focusing on purpose, how about we focus on the solid and assured rock of ages? The one who has never failed and will never fail? Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the sure steadfast rock and foundation.
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.Psalms 127:1
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”Matthew 7:24-27
