What is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit?
The Bible says believers will be known by their Fruit. When we get born again, we stop living by the flesh and start living by the spirit:
When the Holy Spirit comes to live in you and he gets to do house cleaning removing the previous chaff and replacing it with godliness. He helps believers shed off their old nature and to develop a new character.
Many people assume that when someone becomes a believer, a change in character happens immediately. But this is not true. Some changes maybe immediate but others take time and training which takes perseverance.
Galatians states 9 fruit of the Spirit, but recently while doing some research, I came across an article written by a Catholic Site stating 12 fruits of the spirit. In addition to the 9 fruit mentioned in Galatians, the Author included 3 More I couldn’t find in the Bible: Modesty, Chastity, Generosity
This led me to study my Bible Further and I came across a passage in Ephesians that states:
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
14 Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”
Now here are the Nine Fruit Of the Holy Spirit as Mentioned By Apostle Paul in Galatians.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
