The Power Of Your Words To Create Good Or Bad

Words have power immeasurably. They have the ability to change situations and destinies. Words can create or destroy. Words can give life or they can kill.

King Solomon perfectly illustrates it with the phrases below:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Proverbs 18:21

He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
Why else did God give us the senses which many people keep abusing continually? Why do folks think God also provided us the Bible?
Words have power.

Proverbs 13:3

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Proverbs 15:4

I understand communication is multifaceted entity:

  • Images have power.
  • Colors have power.
  • Symbols have power.
  • Sounds have power.
  • Touches have power.
  • Vibrations have power.
  • Consonance and patterns have power.

Considering the power of communication in it’s varied forms, it’s therefore very important to watch what we think, say, watch and see.

If we are going to produce life giving words, then we have to sow the right seeds. And sowing the right seeds starts with having good seeds.

We have to be careful about the things we read for example magazines, books, articles, blogs etc.

We have to be intentional about what we watch and listen to because all these ultimately affect what we will say.

I pray we are able to speak life, love, Jesus, faith, hope into the lives of others. I pray we become builders and restorers.

How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Matthew 12:34-37

“Humility and patience are the surest proofs of the increase of love.”

John Wesley

“Beware you are not swallowed up in books! An ounce of love is worth a pound of knowledge.”

John Wesley

“In souls filled with love, the desire to please God is continual prayer.”

John Wesley

“Get all you can, save all you can and give all you can.”

John Wesley

“Even in the greatest afflictions, we ought to testify to God, that, in receiving them from his hand, we feel pleasure in the midst of the pain, from being afflicted by Him who loves us, and whom we love.”

John Wesley

“Though we cannot think alike may we not love alike?”

John Wesley

“All outward means of grace, if separate from the spirit of God, cannot profit, or conduce, in any degree, either to the knowledge or love of God. All outward things, unless he works in them and by them, are in vain.”

John Wesley

“God is the first object of our love: Its next office is, to bear the defects of others. And we should begin the practice of this amidst our own household.”

John Wesley

“One of the greatest evidences of God’s love to those that love him is, to send them afflictions, with grace to bear them.”

John Wesley

“The readiest way which God takes to draw a man to himself is, to afflict him in that he loves most, and with good reason; and to cause this affliction to arise from some good action done with a single eye; because nothing can more clearly show him the emptiness of what is most lovely and desirable in the world.”

John Wesley

“We scarce conceive how easy it is to rob God of his due, in our friendship with the most virtuous persons, until they are torn from us by death. But if this loss produces lasting sorrow, that is a clear proof that we had before two treasures, between which we divided our heart.”

John Wesley

“There is no love of God without patience, and no patience without lowliness and sweetness of spirit.”

John Wesley

“The world is my parish.”

John Wesley

“As the furious hate which the devil bears us is termed the roaring of a lion, so our vehement love may be termed crying after God.”

John Wesley

“It is no marvel that the devil does not love field preaching! Neither do I; I love a commodious room, a soft cushion, a handsome pulpit. But where is my zeal if I do not trample all these underfoot in order to save one more soul?”

John Wesley

“Love fasts when it can, and as much as it can. It leads to all the ordinances of God, and employs itself in all the outward works whereof it is capable. It flies, as it were, like Elijah over the plain, to find God upon his holy mountain.”

John Wesley

“Humility alone unites patience with love; without which it is impossible to draw profit from suffering; or indeed, to avoid complaint, especially when we think we have given no occasion for what men make us suffer.”

John Wesley

“The best means of resisting the devil is, to destroy whatever of the world remains in us, in order to raise for God, upon its ruins, a building all of love. Then shall we begin, in this fleeting life, to love God as we shall love him in eternity.”

John Wesley

“Whether we think of, or speak to, God, whether we act or suffer for him, all is prayer, when we have no other object than his love, and the desire of pleasing him.”

John Wesley

“Give me 100 men who hate nothing but sin and love God with all their hearts and I will shake the world for Christ!”

John Wesley

“Go not to those who want you, but to those who want you most.”

John Wesley

“Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can.”

John Wesley

“Let your words be the genuine picture of your heart.”

John Wesley

“God only requires of his adult children, that their hearts be truly purified, and that they offer him continually the wishes and vows that naturally spring from perfect love. For these desires, being the genuine fruits of love, are the most perfect prayers that can spring from it. It is scarce conceivable how strait the way is wherein God leads them that follow him; and how dependent on him we must be, unless we are wanting in our faithfulness to him.”

You Asked Me For Peace – Poem.

You asked me for peace.

Your request left me perplexed.

Before asking me,

Have you given yourself peace yet?

You have been seeking peace

for a very long time now and:

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in a bottle.

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in a syringe.

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in impulsive buys.

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in between the legs and thighs of others

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in binge watching movies, series and T.V

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in binge eating all kinds of food

And you hadn’t found it yet.

The last time I checked you were seeking

peace in video games, sports games, all sorts of games.

And you still hadn’t found it yet.

I thought by now, you would know and realize

that the world can’t give you peace.

The world may give you a false sense of peace.

But it’s only fleeting and temporary.

Only Christ can give everlasting Peace.

For he says;

“Peace I leave with you my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John: 14.27

People – Poem

People – Poem.

They come
They go
Some fill
Some empty
Some give
Some take
At times they’ll give a hand
At times they’ll give a leg
At other times you will give the hand
At other times you will give the leg
Through laughter or tears
They make us change
Some our style
Some our view
Some our character
Soon enough you find
That while you need them
They need you too
Strangers
Friends
Family
Enemies
It matters not
In all shapes and
hues they come
Angels, demons
Saints, sinners
Accepting them
Is easier than
Trying to understand them
Each will provide a lesson
And never expect perfection
Because soon you will realize
All people err
No fault of theirs
They are only people

Bible Verse:

A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

Proverbs 17:17

Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Proverbs 27:6

Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.

Ecclesiastes 4:9

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.
