Abraham Lincoln

“Every time, before you intercede, worship God in His glory, and be quiet first. Think of what joys to hear the prayers of His people, and can perform. Think of privilege and your place and expect good things!”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough.”

Meister Eckhart

“Talking to men for God is the usual fantastic thing, but speaking to God for men is greater.”

Edward McKendree Bounds

“Hearing God will make a prayer.”

Andrew Murray

“Prayer doesn’t fit us for the greatest work, prayer is the greater work.”

Oswald Chambers

“Sometimes I go to God and say, “God, if Thou dost never answer another prayer while I live on this earth, I will still worship Thee as long as I live and in the ages to come for what Thou hast done already. God’s already put me so far in debt that if I were to live one million millenniums I couldn’t pay Him for what He’s done for me.”

A.W. Tozer

“We must begin to feel that God, might bring down its power to earth, and in the mystery of prayer, he gave us with a power which could move the Heavenly Earth.”

“Help” is a prayer that is always answered. It doesn’t matter how you pray–with your head bowed in silence, or crying out in grief, or dancing. Churches are good for prayer, but so are garages and cars and mountains and showers and dance floors. Years ago I wrote an essay that began, “Some people think that God is in the details, but I have come to believe that God is in the bathroom.”

Anne Lamott

“Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.”

Mother Teresa

“We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.”

Oswald Chambers

“As the books of Job, Jeremiah, and Habakkuk clearly show, God has a high threshold of tolerance for what appropriate to say in a prayer. God can “handle” my unsuppressed rage. I may well find that my vindictive feelings need God’s correction – but only by taking those feelings to God will I have the opportunity for correction and healing.”

Philip Yancey

“Prayer can never be in surplus.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.”

Martin Luther

“A Christian fellowship lives and exists by the intercession of its members for one another, or it collapses. I can no longer condemn or hate a brother for whom I pray, no matter how much trouble he causes me. His face, that hitherto may have been strange and intolerable to me, is transformed in intercession into the countenance of a brother for whom Christ died, the face of a forgiven sinner.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

 John Bunyan

“That is to say, I pray for you. And there’s an intimacy in it. That’s the truth.”

Marilynne Robinson

“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there’s nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.

Most of us would prefer, however, to spend our time doing something that will get immediate results. We don’t want to wait for God to resolve matters in His good time because His idea of ‘good time’ is seldom in sync with ours.”

Oswald Chambers

“In the silence of the heart God speaks. If you face God in prayer and silence, God will speak to you. Then you will know that you are nothing. It is only when you realize your nothingness, your emptiness, that God can fill you with Himself. Souls of prayer are souls of great silence.”

Mother Teresa

“There is no true prayer without confession. As long as we have unconfessed sin in our soul, we are not going to have power with God in prayer. He says if we regard iniquity in our hearts, He will not hear us, much less answer. As long as we are living in any known sin, we have no power in prayer. God is not going to hear it.”

– Dwight Lyman Moody

“Prayer is a serious thing. We may be taken at our words.”

– Dwight Lyman Moody

Now, what we want is a fresh supply, a fresh anointing and fresh power, and if we seek it, and seek it with all our hearts, we will obtain it.”

 – Dwight Lyman Moody

“The world knows little of the works wrought by prayer.”

“How far away is Heaven? It is not so far as some imagine. It wasn’t very far from Daniel. It was not so far off that Elijah’s prayer and those of others could not be heard there. Men full of the Spirit can look right into heaven.”

 – Dwight Lyman Moody

“In our prayers, we talk to God, in our Bible study, God talks to us, and we had better let God do most of the talking.”

– Dwight Lyman Moody

– Dwight Lyman Moody

“Prayer does not mean that I am to bring God down to my thoughts and my purposes, and bend his government according to my foolish, silly, and sometimes sinful notions. Prayer means that I am to be raised up into feeling, into union and design with him; that I am to enter into his counsel and carry out his purpose fully.”

– Dwight Lyman Moody

“It may be that at this moment every battlement of heaven is alive with the redeemed. There is a sainted mother watching for her daughter. Have you no response to that long hushed voice which has prayed for you so often? And for you, young man, are there no voices there that have prayed for you? And are there none whom you promised once to meet again, if not on earth, in heaven?”

Prayer Is A Shield To The Soul – Prayer And Devotional Quotes – John Bunyan.

“The reason why the Christians in this day are at such a loss as to some things is that they are contented with what comes from man’s mouth, without searching and kneeling before God to know of Him the truth of things.”

John Bunyan

“If you are not a praying person, you are not a Christian.”

John Bunyan

“In all your prayers forget not to thank the Lord for his mercies.”

– John Bunyan

“It is the opener of the heart of God, and a means by which the soul, though empty, is filled.”

– John Bunyan

“Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Spirit, for such things as God has promised.”

– John Bunyan

“Pray and read, read and pray; for a little from God is better than a great deal from men.”

– John Bunyan

“Here is the life of prayer, when in or with the Spirit, a man being made sensible of sin, and how to come to the Lord for mercy; he comes, I say, in the strength of the Spirit, and crieth Father. That one word spoken in faith is better than a thousand prayers, as men call them, written and read, in a formal, cold, lukewarm way.”

– John Bunyan

“The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin to damn the whole world.”

– John Bunyan

“There is enough sin in my best prayer to send the whole world to Hell.” – John Bunyan

– John Bunyan

“You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed. Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge to Satan.”

John Bunyan

“The best prayers have often more groans than words.”

– John Bunyan

“The truths that I know best I have learned on my knees. I never know a thing well, till it is burned into my heart by prayer.”

– John Bunyan

“In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”

“We know not the matter of the things for which we should pray, neither the object to whom we pray, nor the medium by or through whom we pray; none of these things know we, but by the help and assistance of the Spirit.”

– John Bunyan

“Prayer is a shield to the soul.”

– John Bunyan

“To pray rightly, you must make God your hope, stay, and all. Right prayer sees nothing substantial or worth being concerned about except God.”

– John Bunyan

“Take heed of driving so hard after this world, as to hinder thyself and family from those duties towards God, which thou art by grace obliged to; as private prayer, reading the scriptures, and Christian conference. It is a base thing for men so to spend themselves and families after this world, as that they disengage their heart to God’s worship.”

– John Bunyan

“Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan.”

– John Bunyan

“It is not the mouth that is the main thing to be looked at in prayer, but whether the heart is so full of affection and earnestness in prayer with God, that it is impossible to express their sense and desire; for then a man desires indeed, when his desires are so strong, many, and mighty, that all the words, tears, and groans that can come from the heart, cannot utter them.”

“God speaks once, yea twice, yet Man perceiveth it not, in a Dream, in a Vision of the night, when deep Sleep falleth upon men, in slumbering upon the bed. We need not, when abed, to lie awake to talk with God, he can visit us while we sleep, and cause us then to hear his Voice. Our heart oft-times wakes when we sleep, and God can speak to that, either by words, by proverbs, by signs and similitudes, as well as if one was awake.”

– John Bunyan

– John Bunyan

“A sensible thanksgiving for mercies received is a mighty prayer in the Spirit of God. It prevails with Him unspeakably.”

– John Bunyan

“Sincerity is the same in a corner alone, as it is before the face of the world. It knows not how to wear two vizards, one for an appearance before men, and another for a short snatch in a corner; but it must have God, and be with him in the duty of prayer. It is not lip-labour that it doth regard, for it is the heart that God looks at, and that which sincerity looks at, and that which prayer comes from, if it be that prayer which is accompanied with sincerity.”

Jesus Heal My Wounds – Prayer

Jesus Heal My Wounds – Prayer.

Lord I really do have wounds that need healing.
I have heartaches. I have pains.
In places no one can see.

Sometimes I get really angry.
I don’t justify my actions.

Lord, sin is sin.
Lord anger is anger.
And I struggle with this sometimes.

I have been disappointed by life.
I have been let down by everything.
I have been mistreated by people.

Life has been tough.
And yes Lord.
I do realize this makes blaming others easier.
It makes it easy to convict and pass judgement.
It makes it easy to call people good or bad.

It’s tough Lord.
It’s tough for us all.

But your grace is sufficient.
Your grace will see me to the other side.
Your grace will carry me through.

The world might be dark right now.
Filled with hate and malice.
Full of pain and suffering.

But I’m comforted because I know. That you are in control.

Though we are struggling my sweet Jesus,

I know that you are familiar with our affliction.

Jesus I need you desperately.

Please come and heal my wounds.

Please come and cure my pain.

Pour balm over my crevices and the places that lack.

Thank you for answered prayer.

In the precious name of Jesus.

Bible Verses:

The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
4 He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name.
5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.
6 The Lord lifts up the humble;
He casts the wicked down to the ground.

Psalms 147:2-6

For I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,
‘Because they called you an outcast saying:
“This is Zion;
No one seeks her.” ’
18 “Thus says the Lord:
‘Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents,
And have mercy on his dwelling places;
The city shall be built upon its own mound,
And the palace shall remain according to its own plan.

Jeremiah 30:17-18
