What Is The Existence, Nature, Character, Work And Destiny Of The Devil – Spiritual Reading.

1 John 3:8: “The Devil Sinneth.” The Bible doctrine concerning the Devil, his Existence, Nature, Character, Work and Destiny is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith, and is of vital importance. The teaching of the Bible on this subject is not a mere matter of theory or dogma. It is a matter of most practical every day importance.

Experience shows that if men are in error in regard to this subject, they are pretty sure to be in error on other questions that are fundamental. When men and women begin to question the existence of a personal Devil it is pretty sure that before long they will be questioning a good many other things regarding which a true child of God should have no questions. Doubt of the existence of a personal Devil is widespread to-day.

Many preachers in supposedly orthodox pulpits do not hesitate to say, “I do not believe in the existence of a personal Devil.” Denial of the existence of a personal Devil is one of the main points in the system which is so widespread to-day, and which is doing so much evil, that with considerable reason it has been called “The Devil’s Masterpiece”—Christian Science.

A well-known and popular pastor in this city some months ago proclaimed to his people that he was going to preach to them a gospel “without an atonement of blood, without an infallible Bible, without hell, and without a personal Devil.” If he does preach to them a system of doctrine without any of these he will preach some other system of doctrine than that which is contained in the book, which our Lord Jesus Christ has endorsed as the Word of God, i.e., the Bible.

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

John 8:44

The Importance Of Humility In Life | The Power In Being Humble.

In a world that brags, it takes strength to be humble. Most people think humility is weakness but that is not true. Humility is powerful because it requires one to push against their flesh and ego.

Battling the ego is not an easy feat and it is a war we have to wage everyday.

Humility is a very important attribute because it helps to keep us in check so that we don’t go overboard and fall. There is a common adage that pride goes before a fall. Well, humility helps to make sure, we don’t fall. Humility helps us to soar.

Humility brings rest and peace of mind. The world is always pushing us to do more and to be more. There is continuous pressure to acquire things and then show these things off in guise of increasing our self esteem and self worth in the eyes of the world. Well, a humble and gentle spirit helps us to avoid falling into this all common trap.

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus is the most powerful force to reckon with in the universe and yet he is also the most humble person in history.

Jesus is lord and master and yet he humbled himself and washed the feet of his disciples and servants to demonstrate to them the importance of being humble.

What Is The Devil’s Destiny? – Spiritual Reading.

The Devil’s Destiny:

Turn in the first place to Rev. 20:1-3: “And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the keys of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: After this he must be loosed for a little time.”

We are here taught that at the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ Satan shall be bound with a great chain and cast into the abyss for a thousand years. The abyss, or as it is translated in the Authorised Version, “bottomless pit,” does not mean hell. Satan, as we shall see further on, shall be cast into hell later.

Turn now to Rev. 20:7, 8: “And when the thousand years are finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall come forth to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war: The number of whom is as the sand of the sea.”

We are here taught that at the end of the Millennium, the thousand years, Satan shall be loosed for a little season from the abyss into which he has been cast chained, and that he shall [come forth to deceive the nations. But the time of his power then will be very brief.

In Rev. 20:10 we find the ultimate destiny of the Devil: “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Here is one of the points at which the theories of the “Reconciliation” people and “Universalists” generally break down. The argument of the Reconciliationists and Universalists, by which they attempt to prove that all men must ultimately be saved, carried to its logical issue, if it proved anything, would prove the salvation of Satan also, and this many of them do teach.

They say plainly that the Devil will ultimately be brought to repentance and saved. Indeed that is what I believed and taught in my early ministry. But this passage which we have just read shows the impossibility of this being true. “The lake of fire” was “prepared for the Devil and his angels.”

Our Lord Himself says in Matt.25:41 that when He comes back to judge this world He will say to those on His left hand: “Depart from me, ye cursed into the eternal fire, which is prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Hell was not prepared for men, but for the Devil and his angels. If any man goes there it will be because he has chosen to cast in his lot with the Devil rather than with God. Therefore they go where the Devil goes. Every one who rejects Jesus Christ is throwing in his lot with the Devil.

Sarah – Scandal To Salvation – Scandalous Women In The Bible

Friend: “Hannah, why do Christians act so Holier than Thou? Like goody two shoes who never sin.”

Me: I don’t think that is a fair assessment of Christians. Most Christians are just flawed people who have found salvation from scandal. Sinners saved by the mercy and grace of God.

Friend: “Really?” Going by the way most Christians have become so judgemental and critical, that is hard to believe.”

Me: Let me tell you about some scandalous people in the Bible and how they were able to find salvation in the midst of their sins and scandal.

Today, we shall be speaking about Sarai who became Sarah in our series on Scandalous Women in the Bible and how their Scandal, Sin and Shame was turned to salvation and redemption by the Lord God almighty who is able to forgive sins and change destinies for the best.

I will put a spin on the write ups:

I will start off by writing how our media houses today might have sensationalized and told the stories of these women. After that, I will write on what the Bible actually tells us happened.

The Media Headlines of Modern Times Would Probably Carry:

  • Scientists are baffled and are trying to investigate how an elderly post menopausal woman could give birth to a healthy baby boy.
  • Sister and Brother get married sending worldwide shockwaves.
  • Wife given away to neighbors by her husband so he can get food and other favors.
  • Woman surprises her friends by encouraging her husband to sleep with her maid.
  • Woman anger’s and enrages feminists when she chooses to address her husband as, “My Lord.”

What the Bible Says:

1. God promised Sarah and her Husband Abraham a Son and that She would be the Mother of Nations.

15 Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.”
17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

Genesis 17:15-17

10 And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”
(Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

Genesis 18:10-12

2. Sarah, doubted the promises God had made to her husband Abraham. Because of her doubt and fear, she asked her husband to sleep with Hagar so that he could get children by her.

So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. 3 Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram

Genesis 16:2-3

3. Sarah, was about to sleep with another man, Abimelech after Abraham claimed she was his sister. But God intervened and she did not sleep with Abimelech.

Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.”
4 But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? 5 Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.”

Genesis 20:2-5

4. Sarah, was Abraham’s Half Sister.

12 But indeed she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is your kindness that you should do for me: in every place, wherever we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”

Genesis 20:12-13

5. Scandal to Salvation: God kept his promise to Sarah and Abraham. Sarah gave birth to Isaac.

And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him—whom Sarah bore to him—Isaac.

Genesis 21:1-3

I pray this post encourages someone and let’s them know that God is faithful even when we are not faithful. God always keeps his promises.

I pray this post speaks to someone to let them know that whatever their sin, God can redeem and forgive them.

I pray this post inspires someone to let them know that whatever the scandal they find themselves in, whatever the world and everyone says about them, there is still Salvation. God is able to raise anyone from Scandal to Salvation.

The love of Jesus is so wide, so high, so deep there is no sin, no scandal, his love can’t make right.

The grace of Jesus is so immeasurable, there is no sin, no guilt, no shame, he can’t forgive and erase.

I pray Jesus blesses their ministry and increases them abundantly.

1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2
