Sowing is commonly used as an Agricultural term meaning the planting of Seeds. Different seed gives rise to different fruit and produce which ultimately leads to various kinds of Harvest.
If you sow Pumpkin seeds, you will get Pumpkins. If you sow Orange seeds, you will get an Orange Tree which will give you Oranges.
You can’t sow Wheat seed and expect to get apples. This is a universal principle that governs sowing and reaping.
Now, this principle also extends to faith and spirituality. Spiritual seed can include: Money, time, praise, worship, commitment, fellowship, giving, service etc.
And as Christians we are encouraged to sow so that we can reap a harvest of blessings. But, we should also be careful what seed we sow, because the seed sown will affect the kind of harvest we shall get.
Below, I have collected 10 simple Bible Verses on Sowing, to remind you about this important process.
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
How abundant are the good things that You have stored up for those who fear You, that You bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in You.
How blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
Your threshing will continue until grape harvest, and the grape harvest will continue until sowing time; you will have plenty of food to eat and live securely in your land.
What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
37 And as for what you sow — you are not sowing the future body, but only a seed, perhaps of wheat or another grain.
38 But God gives it a body as He wants, and to each of the seeds its own body.
1 Corinthians 15:36-38
For there shall be a sowing of peace. The vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its produce, and the heavens shall give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.
He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
2 Corinthians 9:10-11
As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
