How To Avoid Religion And Start Succeeding – Faith Versus Religion.

I will stand with my assertion that men/women of faith have failed Jesus.
They are the ones who have witnessed his miracles and refused to share about those signs and wonders when it mattered most.
They are like Peter who denied Jesus three times before his death.

Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.” 37 Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.” 38 Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.

John 13:36-38

Men and Women of faith keep failing Jesus. Through the centuries. Everyday. They deny and fail Jesus everyday. Someone might then say; “Some men have everything in their favor. They are destined to succeed.”

Well, my response would be that people born with everything destined to go their way are not men/women of faith. They are men of religion.
I will give examples.

  • Jesus is a man of Faith. Not a man of the religion.
  • Jacob was a man of Faith. Not a man of the religion.
  • Nikola Tesla was a man of Faith. Not a man of the religion
  • Isaac Newton was a man of Faith. Not a man of the religion.
  • Donald Trump is a man of Faith. Not a man of the religion.

Let me explain further.

The natural laws say, a virgin can’t give birth to a child and yet it happened. The spiritual laws say, God can’t be man. And yet he was. The Jewish laws says, a man can’t work on the Sabbath and yet Jesus was caught countless times healing on the Sabbath.

See, thing with religion is that the more times we keep trying to live by it, the more entangled we become. I’m not saying that religion and the law don’t work. They work to a certain extent but they are doomed to fail eventually. They are not solid. They are fools gold. They are fakes. They are not the real thing. They promise you that if you put in so much, you will get this much.

Religious law makers and keepers promise you heaven if you keep all the commandments. They will promise you all sorts of great things in this life and thereafter if you keep the law. However they will not tell you that you can get the same things and even more if you know Jesus and believe in him. They don’t teach about Grace and love.

See the deception?
Okay … Lets go slow… I understand this is a dangerous road I’m trending.
You will go see your Doctor. They will tell you not to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol because you will get cancer and pancreatitis.

But haven’t we seen people who have never smoked their whole life die of cancer? Haven’t we seen non-alcoholics die of pancreatitis?
So, if you have been someone who has been following your Doctors law, what happens when you get cancer the next day?

Will your Doctor have failed you? Told you a lie? Will you stop going to the Doctors? I will tell you what failed you. Not the Doctor or his rules. The law and religion failed you.

The man of Faith will probably be the one who smokes his pipe until he is 80, never gets cancer and if you ask his secret, he will tell you that he believes God protects him. When he tells you this, you will probably refuse and not believer him. Because your religious dogmatic mind can’t comprehend how that can be possible.

We think, to succeed or make it in life, we need religions and laws. We are all men of religion and we sell it to each other. In different spheres of Life. Everywhere you look, you will find it.

But the men who beat the odds and make it in this life, are not men of religion. The geniuses and miracles of our time, are not men of religion. The men we hate the most because of their success, the ones into whose faces we spit, are not men of the law and religion. They are men of Faith. We don’t hate them for their success or ambitions. We hate them for their audacity to win despite the odds.

We become religious men every time we hate. Every time we choose hate over love, for whatever reason, we become men of religion. Every time we refuse to let go of our prejudices and we become dogmatic then we become religious people. Religion happens to all of us. It’s an everyday struggle for every human being. It’s our flesh.

Humans love laws. It’s the human mind. We teach it everywhere. To our children. To our parents. To ourselves. We sell it to each other everyday.
From time immemorial. We have never learnt that to survive and thrive we don’t need religion but love.

Therefore, when religion fails us, we default to hate and fear.
Faith, which is different from religion sets off our panic buttons. We see Faith win and because we are human, we hate Faith because, it reminds us of our weaknesses as humans. It reminds us of the time, religion failed us. Religion said that it was only those who studied for the test who passed. Religion said those who didn’t study, didn’t succeed in life. Until religion failed us. Religion told us that Trump couldn’t win an Election because his curriculum vitae didn’t read right and yet Faith proved us wrong.

We say, “Religion helps give us knowledge and guidance to survive.” It starts from birth. Religion is not scary because it is the known. And we therefore hate anything that would dare tamper with those comforts. And in holding onto false things, we end up missing the real thing.

Can we go back to the real thing? Can we go back to faith? Can we become men/women of Faith? Faith wins every time. Faith beats the odds. Faith can move mountains. With Faith we are sure of success.

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Mark 11:22-23

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Hebrews 11:1-3
