Sometimes it’s tough to stand against popular trends and say NO.
Sometimes its hard to tell people the truth about their actions with no fear.
Sometimes its exhausting to refuse to let go of your values against the pressures.
Sometimes it’s difficult to resit the urge of the shinny knowledge and mystic of New Age.
Sometimes it’s taxing to resit the appeal of universalism, one world religion and other fancy ideas.
They will label you
They will pile abuses
They will exclude you
They will lie about you
They will try to break you
They will try to change you
They will throw stones at you
They will slander your reputation
They will insult you and your God
They will call you unsavory names
They will spread falsehoods against
They will tarnish and garnish your name
They will beat your confidence and self esteem
They will accuse you of wrongs you never committed
“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 13 Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
In fact it’s not a matter of IF, it’s a matter of WHEN some of these things will come your way.
Following the way of Jesus Christ, following the way of the cross is not easy. Jesus never said it would be easy. But he promised to be with us through it all.
Sometimes it will feel like life is passing you by.
Sometimes it will feel like Jesus short-changed you about what the Christian walk is all about.
Sometimes you will even question your decision to follow Christ.
Somedays will cold
Somedays will be lonely
Somedays will be painful
Somedays will be difficult
Somedays will be exhausting
But when you face these kinds of situations and circumstances;
When you feel sad,
When you feel weak,
When you feel broken,
When your faith is faltering,
When your hope is flying low,
When your love stores are dry,
When you feel you can’t possibly go on,
Please I beseech you in such moments to choose praise and worship!
Be joyful! Be Happy!
Like the Apostle Paul gladly boast and say,
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. ” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
And like the Apostle James goes on to add:
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Lest, we so easily forget that the Man we love and chose to follow, the Man himself: Jesus Christ of Nazareth endured much much worse.
He was born in a manager,
He was rejected by his own people
He didn’t always have a roof over his head
He was persecuted and vilified by the Pharisees
He was insulted, abused and slandered by the world
He was mocked and ridiculed by the Pharisees and Saduccees
He was beaten and wounded and nailed to a cross for our salvation
And before he left this world, he told his followers that they would face similar perils from the world.
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20 Remember the word that I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.
So take heart! Pick courage! Don’t dare quit! Don’t dare lose your faith which is very precious! Hold onto Hope!
Jesus is alive and he got you! Jesus conquered this world with all it’s pain, suffering and persecution.
Yes! The King of Kings has his people! You are not alone!
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
So go ahead like the Victor in Christ you are.
Get up if you are down.
Stand up if you are sitting.
Walk if you are standing.
Jog if you are walking.
Sprint if you are jogging.
Fly if you are sprinting!
And remember always that:
Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
