Homemade Cheesecakes For Jesus And A Great Cause – Blog Of The Day.

Deliciously homemade cheesecakes to raise funds for a great cause. A mission trip to Barcelona,  Spain.

The world needs more missionaries. People who are so out to Jesus and his story. People willing to get out of their comfort zones and to reach souls that need to hear the good news.

Many of us have grown apathetic to spreading the gospel because of the times we live in. But I believe that this is the time to reach more people. The state of world affairs is an opportunity to sow seeds of Jesus, Faith, Hope and Love to a hurting world that needs healing.

Indeed the harvest is large but the laborers are few. Can we help send more laborers into the field? Can we please support this great cause?

Thank you and God bless you for your contributions to this call.

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:35-38

What Is More Important – Power Or Money – Blog Of The Day

What Is More Important – Power Or Money – Blog Of The Day.

The debate on what is more important, Power or Money is a controversial and long ranging one.

Many people including preachers have argued that Money is the most important thing in this world because Money is the medium of exchange we need to acquire valuables in this world.

Some preachers have gone as far as quoting King Solomon using the scripture below to push their arguments in the importance of money.

A feast is prepared for laughter, and wine makes life happy, and money is the answer for everything.
Ecclesiastes 10:19

Other people say that money leads to power and without money one can not have power and often allude to the fact that poor people have no power and influence.

On the other side of the debate, a few people argue that without power, money is useless. Money without power is prone to be misused and will soon be depleted since a person with no power also has no will power and therefore no self control.

Extrapolating these arguments to the Church, a few preachers have said that what believers need more than money is power because that is what Jesus promised his disciples before ascending to heaven.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea Acts 1_8 Bible Verse Instagram Post

Without the power of God through the Holy Spirit, we cannot do the work of God satisfactorily and successfully.

For believers and the church to be relevant in this generation and the perilous times that we live in, they need to take back their power and position in this realm.

Unfortunately many believers have no idea about the power they possess because they are focusing on the wrong things.

“Jesus answered them, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God.”
Matthew 22:29

I pray that, as believers we shall be able to recognize our power and position in Jesus Christ and take our rightly places in this world.

A Pastor, musician and evangelist who blogs at Rethinking Scripture has brilliant and daringly bold views on the prosperity gospel that has filled our pulpits and how the Church has grown weak by giving away it’s power in exchange for prosperity and money.

He shares his thoughts on his blog in a series titled, “The Church: Abdicaation Of Power.

“On a Sunday morning a week or two back I was channel surfing looking for something to listen to.  I came across a broadcast of an American national preacher.  He started his service by asking the congregation to stand raise their Bibles in the air and follow him as he recited a self-esteem creed.  I listened totally shocked, after about five to ten seconds I had had enough and turned the channel.  There was not one thing that pointed the congregation or the listeners watching on the television to the Gospel of Christ.  It was pure garbage of “positive thinking”.

Somewhere through the decades the message of the cross has been replaced by the gospel of “I”.  This is not the message Christ spoke to his disciples when he said …

“While I travelled with an evangelist who preached the prosperity gospel sometimes I would talk to ladies and men who would tell me that they gave their rent money to the preacher believing that God would return it to them in a great financial miracle.  They would tell me that they gave their food money and the only thing they had left to eat “cat food”.  Yes, I know that sounds far fetched but that are some of the things I have been told by many coming to the meetings.

I do know that there are some pastors in pulpits who do not subscribe to the prosperity message.  Many of these pastors live an honest living wage, some supplement their income by working a secular job also.

The prosperity gospel has stripped many in the body of Christ from the message of the cross.  This message gives a false security to those who follow it.

Somewhere the message of the cross has been taken away and in its place this damnable doctrine the “prosperity gospel”.  They have abdicated power for prosperity.  Their faith is misguided.”

via The Church: Abdication Of Power-Part Two

The message of the cross is a distant memory except for those of generations past.  Sanctuaries look like the clubs one would enter on a Saturday night.  The music could be mistaken for that of a soft rock radio station.  Everything that is done is for one purpose, the purpose of fleshly stimulation.  None which magnifies the Lord, lifts our spirit heavenward.

Yes, there are those who have not succumed to these methods, yet, they are few and far scattered across the globe.  The message of the cross is greeted with shouts of “we don’t want your bloody religion”.  It is only the message of the cross that pierces the stony heart of man to reveal to man that the only way to have forgiveness is through the blood that was shed on a cross made from a dogwood tree.

There is no urgency of the coming of the Lord, people somehow feel that the good times will never end.  Oh, how they are wrong.  We are not promised tomorrow, it is only by the sovereign grace of God.

How To Become A Better Husband – Blog Of The Day

With the high divorce and separation rates in our world  and many wives lamenting about how unloved and uncared for they feel, it seems like many husbands today need some education on how to be better husbands and how to love their wives.

Most literature out there is about how women can treat their husbands better. A cursory look at many pinterest boards and most are filled with advice on how women can be better wives but very little on how men can be better husbands.

Paul, the apostle encouraged husbands to love their wives, the same way that Jesus loved the church.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word.”

Ephesians 5:25-26

There has been a lot of debate in regards to this, as earlier in the chapter, Paul also encourages wives to submit to  their husbands.

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.”

Ephesians 5:22-24

Unfortunately, some ungodly and unrighteous men have taken this verse and misused it to mistreat their wives.

In his blog series titled,  Becoming A Husband of No Reputation, Travis who blogs at Jesuslovesyou32 brilliantly explores the topic of being a great and godly husband. He masterfully delves into the topic and shares a lot of great insights.

If you are a married man who wants to become a better husband to your wife, and to improve your marriage, this is a must read series.
