How Can You Obtain Hope That Never Fails – Hope In Jesus Christ.

Hope doesn’t always come easy. Especially when life backs you in a corner and you find yourself between a rock and a hard place. Sometimes it can be tempting to think that it’s just easier to throw in the towel and give up hope in Jesus because as we watch our situations they seem impossible and the odds are stack against us.

Unlike the world, that seeks for fleeting hope in passing fancies, as believers, the Bible tells us one of the ways we can develop and have hope. And this is how it goes.

When we suffer, we can rejoice, give thanks and glorify God because we know for a truth that our suffering and pain in not in vain.
We have an assurance that can’t be shaken and has been proven time and time again and by a large cloud of witnesses that our suffering produces perseverance.

Once we have developed perseverance, we have gone to another level of maturity as believers. It means we can wait. And even in that difficult place of waiting, we do it with grateful and thankful hearts. We push forward despite the tides. We press on because sure enough, our perseverance produces character.

Character is solid. Character does not back down. Character is not tossed about by strange doctrines and heresies. There is authority that comes with character.

And then once we have developed that character, we get HOPE!
Hallelujah! And that Hope that we develop, that hope in a savior who conquered death never puts us to shame. It’s solid! Legit! Praiseworthy.
You can take it to the bank or anywhere. It’s a hope that never fails or fades.

So, incase you are going through a difficult time right now and you are suffering, please chin up. Take heart. Glory in your suffering, that is just the beginning to a Hope that never puts us to shame.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Righteous Rulings By Judge Amy Berman Jackson And Judge T.S Ellis In The Case Of Paul John Manafort.

I think it’s a good thing and a blessing that Paul John Manafort Jr gets a total of 7 and a half years in jail for his crimes.

Paul John Manafort, 69 years, is an American lawyer, political consultant and former campaign manager to the 2016 Donald Trump campaign.

He is married to Kathleen Bond who is 66 years old and is currently suffering from a brain injury.

Judge T.S Ellis (Thomas Selby Ellis III)  sentenced him to 47 months while Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced him to 43 months for combined cases of conspiracy and fraud.

We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. If it was not for Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross, we should all be headed to hell.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

Romans 3:23-26

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray thus:

In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. 14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 6:8-15

If we expect God to forgive us, then we should be able to forgive other people. Forgiveness is not always easy and yet it is worth it.

I’m grateful to Judge Amy Baker Jackson and Judge T.S Ellis for ruling and judging with righteousness, mercy, kindness and compassion.

Jesus says, he came for sinners and he desires mercy and not sacrifice.

When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Matthew 9:12-13

Both Judge Amy Baker Jackson and Judge T.S Ellis showed mercy, kindness, love, compassion and leniency.

Our world filled with hate, darkness, un-forgiveness, hard heartedness, fear, cruelty needs more news of compassion, kindness, light, faith, hope, mercy and love.

If Jesus could forgive the thief on the cross, when he showed repentance and was contrite, who are we not to forgive others when they repent and ask for forgiveness?

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke 23:39-43

Paul Manafort has apologized. He has also promised to change and become a better man. I believe he is able to.

We shall keep praying for him and we pray Jesus does a great work in his life. Paul Manafort, Jesus loves you and so do I.

Where Is Your Hope For Life Found – Hope In Jesus Christ.

Where is your Hope for life found?  Is it in your family, finances, friends, job, career, children, business, investments, beauty, money, intelligence, education, networks etc?

Sadly, putting your hope in the things mentioned above can put you to shame. In fact many people in the world have been put to shame by hoping in passing fancies. The only hope that never disappoints, that doesn’t fail and that doesn’t shame us is a hope in Jesus.

For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 10:11-13

Are you going through a period of shame right now because you put your hope in the wrong places and people?

Don’t despair. You have an opportunity to put your Hope in Jesus who will never put you to shame. Hope in Jesus not only gives us peace, comfort and strength, but it pours love into our lives. Hope in Jesus is sure and it never fails.

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil.

Hebrews 6:19-20

Hope in Jesus today and and watch him turn your shame to honor, glory and purity.

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Revelation 3:18-19

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4. perseverance, character; and character, hope.

 Romans 5: 3

According to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

Songs That Got Me Through The Year | 2018 – Praise And Worship.

Yeshua has seen me through another year. 2018 was the year where praise and worship morphed into the prophetic. So many gospel musicians released really prophetic sounds this year. And I saw Jesus move mighty in many areas of my life.

Every year, Jesus lets me know that there is more to him, his glory and his kingdom. He keeps revealing himself to me in the most glorious and ingenious ways. This year was no different.

In 2017, Jesus showed me the power of praise and worship to open new doors and I shared that list of earth shattering songs in this list.

Songs That Got Me Through The Year | 2017 – Praise And Worship

In 2018, Jesus moved far and wide and there were so many new songs released by contemporary gospel musicians. Christian music has certainly evolved, grown and developed in such amazing ways.

So, if I’m to look through my playlist and select some songs that really touched me, caused miracles and generally changed my life, this would look something like it.

PS: The songs are randomly listed with no grading from a long list of totally awesome songs.

Prophesy Your Promise – Bryan & Katie Torwalt

I saw the prophetic manifest in the most marvelous ways this year. Bryan and Katie of Jesus Culture just echo those sentiments in this powerfully moving and humbling song. In fact all the songs in the album are worth listening to. The album is titled Praise Before My Breakthrough.

There Is A Name – Sean Feucht

There is really no name above the name of Jesus. At the name of Jesus, giants fall. People are changed. Nations are healed. When we call on the name of Jesus transformations occur. Yes! Jesus is the king of my life. He is the center and eternally enthroned on my heart. Sean Feucht, thank you for the miraculous album titled “Wild” in which this awesome song is found.

Zion Aaron Shust

There are times I felt alone. Times I felt misunderstood. Times I felt like a wanderer who would never find home. Aaron’s song strongly reminded me of the eternal covenant I have in Jesus. His song reminded that God who started a new work will see me to the end. That I’m not really alone. Jesus has me always and he will never leave me or forsake me.

While I Wait – Lincoln Brewster

Waiting can be one of the hardest things ever. I found that trusting God while waiting made it so much easier. I was reminded that Jesus is the God of impossibilities and he has me always. I was reminded to live by Faith and that miracles take time sometimes so I should hold on. Jesus is not done, so I won’t be done waiting. He will come through, of that I’m sure. Lincoln Brewster’s song off his superb album titled, “God Of The Impossible” is worth it.

Shelter – Vertical Worship ft. One Sonic Society

Oh my! There were moments during the year that I felt the earth under me literally shaking and going down under me. There were times I felt vulnerable and exposed. There were times I needed a place to hide from enemies, the world, myself and everything. There were times I wanted to escape. When the world felt too dangerous to live in. Vertical Worship‘s calming song, “Shelter” spoke to me so many times.

Stand In Your Love – Josh Baldwin

There were so many times I was afraid. Times when my fear almost paralyzed into inaction. Times when I didn’t want to let go of my past. When shame, guilt and negativity gripped at my insides. During those times, Josh Baldwin reminded me that there is a power that is greater than fear, greater than darkness, greater than death. The power of Jesus is above everything and anything. Jesus thank you for being more powerful than all my circumstances.

Cheta – Ada

Oh how easy it is forget that Jesus never fails especially when the storms of life hit. When uncertainty knocks at our door, it is easy to forget that we serve a God who never changes. A God who is the same yesterday, today and forever. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The creator of the heavens and earth. I pray that when the storms hit, you will be encouraged and know that Jesus is never late. He never fails and he is there for you. Ada, thank you for reminding me of these truths through the year.

In The Hands Of The Potter – Casting Crowns

2018, was a year where Jesus was really molding and shaping me. He chiseled, he cut, he patted, he broke, he restored, he shook, he hit, he renewed, he burnt and out of the process, I came out a better vessel. I’m certainly on the right path to perfection. Jesus, thank you for taking my unworthy parts into your hands and shaping me. Jesus thank you for using me as vessel, please keep using me. Keep molding this piece of clay and dust. I’m yours for eternity my King and master.

Nobody Loves Me Like You – Chris Tomlin

Jesus is love personified. Jesus is the definition of love. Jesus is where love starts and ends. Without Jesus there is no true love. Jesus is the center of love. Jesus helps us to love others better as we copy his example. Jesus please help me to love others the way you love me.

When I Am Weak – The Response Band

Most times, I feel really weak and defeated. Most times I find myself at the masters feet as the world pushes at me. The place I feel strongest is in the bosom of Papa, Jesus. When I can’t go on, Jesus carries me. Truth is that Jesus is always carrying me otherwise I wouldn’t manage to do life. I can’t do life without Jesus. The Response Band, thank you so much for telling me over and over that my Father, Jesus has me always. Your song got me through so much.

I fear not for the Lord is with me
He upholds his righteous hand
From his word springs life
It’s drawing home the broken
He redeems the fallen man
~
Your grace is all I need
You are strong when I am weak
I will boast in the power of Christ in Me
You are strong when I am weak
~
God our love transforms the low to mighty
He gives power when we are Faint
Though we become dismayed in trials and persecution
Only one renews our strength
~
Your grace is all I need
You are strong when I am weak
I will boast in the power of Christ in Me
You are strong when I am weak
~
We’ll soar on wings like eagles
We’ll walk and not be faint
We’ll run and grow weary
Our Father is our strength
~
Your grace is all I need
You are strong when I am weak
I will boast in the power of Christ in Me
You are strong when I am weak
~
I will boast in the power of Christ in Me
You are strong when I am weak

The Response Band

Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
Give to the Lord glory and strength.
29 Give to the Lord the glory due His name;
Bring an offering, and come before Him.
Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!

1 Chronicles 16:28-29

Boldly And Gladly Boasting In The Hope Of Glory – Hope In Jesus Christ.

As believers we can boldly stand and boast; Not in ourselves. Not in our achievements or our accolades or what we have been able to do.
Such boast is useless and leads to sin.

But boasting in the Hope of the glory of the Lord Jesus gives us peace, faith and perseverance. It helps us to push on.

The same way the disciples and believers before us pushed on, we too can.
The apostles and disciples had hope that their Messiah Jesus Christ would be glorified through them and so they pushed ahead.

When life got tough and they were suffering and being persecuted for their faith, they held onto the hope that their Lord was being gloried through their sufferings and tribulations.

While we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Titus 2:13

Are you going through a particularly difficult time in your journey of Faith right now?

  • Is hope far?
  • Is hope lost?
  • Are you in despair?
  • Reached your wits end?
  • Don’t know where to turn?

You dear brother or sister can have Hope in the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. You can believe that he is using the situation you find yourself in to be glorified.

What a great honor and privilege to be chosen by the creator of the universe as vessels for his glory to shine through.

Don’t lose hope. Don’t despair. Hold on and Hope in the glory of God.

We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, 4 endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. 5 This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:2-5

Finding Comfort While Mourning And Experiencing Grief And Loss In These Perilous Times

Finding Comfort While Mourning And Experiencing Grief And Loss In These Perilous Times.

One particularly chilly Autumn morning I woke up to the sad news of the untimely death of my cousin. It was around the season there was a mass shooting first in a Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania  and later in Thousand Oaks, California. This was soon followed by widespread fires across California that destroyed many homes and left thousands of people homeless and many dead.

As I lay in bed while reading the chilling messages that flowed in from various relatives detailing my cousin brother’s death, I felt numb and had just one thought running through my mind. These are the perilous times the Bible was speaking about. The perilous times are here. Jesus please hold onto us and save us because we won’t manage without you. Lord we are living in the perilous times you spoke about please save us.

As I lay still trying to wrap my mind around the events that were happening, I could feel pain course through my heart as I mourned the loss of my cousin. The grief was so overwhelming that getting out of bed that morning was a chore. Somehow I couldn’t comprehend it all.

The world felt cold, dark, confusing, unsafe and very lonely. I felt like I needed a place to hide. So, I just kept murmuring, ‘Jesus please hide me. You are the rock that is higher than me. Please hold me. You are my only comfort right now.’

And Jesus heard. I felt this warmth seep through as I found strength to finally make it out of bed, make the necessary phone calls and pray with the rest of the family as funeral and burial arrangements were made.

My cousin was a young man in his early twenties who had recently got a great job and was starting to enjoy life. The previous day, he had been well. After going to work that day, he retired home. The next day, he didn’t make it to work. So one of his work colleagues went to his house to find out what was happening since he wasn’t responding to his calls. Unfortunately, he found my cousin brother, dead. He had apparently passed away in his sleep. He went suddenly. With no warning. It was very shocking and jarring. Indeed death does come like a thief in the night.

It hurt so bad because there were no farewells. No goodbyes. No see you laters. Life is unpredictable. We are here today and gone tomorrow. We shouldn’t take life for granted and we should learn to value and appreciate each day that Jesus gives us. While we might not know what tomorrow holds, we know who holds tomorrow. Jesus Christ is a sure foundation we can cling to and hold onto in these perilous and dark times. Jesus is a sure source of comfort for our grief and loss in these difficult days. We can trust Jesus however dark the situation might be because he never fails.

Bible Verse:

I will love You, O Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. 4 The pangs of death surrounded me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. 5 The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. 6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

Psalms 18:1-6

He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.
17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me,
For they were too strong for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support. 19 He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. 20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.

Psalms 18:16-20

The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. 47 It is God who avenges me, And subdues the peoples under me; 48 He delivers me from my enemies. You also lift me up above those who rise against me; You have delivered me from the violent man. 49 Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles, And sing praises to Your name.

Psalms 18:46-49

My prayer:

That Jesus will help us number our days because we don’t know the day or the hour. Our hearts can be stilled at any moment. Tomorrow is not promised anyone. I pray we live our lives for Jesus so that we shall receive the crown of glory at the end. Let’s live for the glory of God. To bring honor to his name. And I pray for all those who are grieving the loss of a loved one today. I pray that Jesus will mend your broken heart. I pray Jesus visits to offer you comfort and strength. I pray he can give you praise for heaviness. That your grief will be turned to gratitude and worship. It’s tough to worship when we are hurting but I pray Jesus gives us the grace to. Jesus please heal our grief. In Jesus’s name I have prayed.
Amen.

Spiritual Benefits And Positive Effects Of A Good Fire That Is Holy And Righteous

Spiritual Benefits And Positive Effects Of A Good Fire That Is Holy And Righteous.

For a long time we have been taught that fire is mostly a bad thing because it burns and causes destruction. If one of your body parts gets burnt, you will feel the pain. And in extreme cases you will need a plastic surgeon to fix you up.

Going by the California fires that have been doing the rounds for years, burning homes and rendering people homeless, there is no argument that fire can leave behind devastating effects in it’s wake.

And yet, Hebrews 12:29 tells us that;
“For our God is a consuming fire.”

God is a consuming fire. God burns things up. It’s a difficult concept to try understanding. Does this mean God is bad? Most certainly not! God is holy and there is no evil or bad in him. This can therefore only mean that fire while it burns can also be good. But fire only becomes a good thing when God is in it. There are many instances in the Bible where God appears as fire or in a fire. And in all those varied instances, fire does good.

God appears to Moses in the burning bush on holy ground and says he is “I AM WHO IAM” as he prepares Moses to go on a journey of rescuing the Israelites from captivity and bondage. That is a very good thing.

Then the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed. 3 So Moses thought: I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn’t the bush burning up? 4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from the bush, “Moses, Moses!” “Here I am,” he answered. 5 “Do not come closer,” He said. “Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

Exodus 3:2-5

God appears as a pillar of fire by night to provide light and protection to the children of Israel while they are in the desert.

And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

Exodus 13:21-22

God appears as fire from heaven and burns up the offering that the righteous Prophet of God, Elijah has prepared while he is facing off with the Prophets of Baal and Asherah. A great miracle that caused many Israelites to turn back to Jehovah.

Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

1 Kings 18:37-39

God appears in the fire with the three Hebrew children when they were thrown in the fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar and he stands with them in the fire causing them to be rescued.

And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” 25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire.

Daniel 3:23-26

In the New Testament book of Hebrews he is a consuming fire. Coming to renew us and make us pure. Burning away our sin, iniquity and transgressions so that we can shine and glow as refined silver and gold.

“For our God is a consuming fire.”

 Hebrews 12:29

When God is in the fire, fire turns from a bad thing to a good thing. From a destructive force to a redemptive force. From a painful experience to a pleasurable experience.

  • Are you going through fire right now? Call on the consuming fire Jesus Christ to come and be with you in the fire and see your situation change.
  • Is there sin and iniquity in your life right now? Call on the refiners fire to come and burn away the sin and iniquity in your life and make you pure.
  • Is your life dark right now? Call on the fire of the Lord Jesus to come and illuminate the dark places in your life and make them glow.
  • Do you have food or an offering and need it cooked and well prepared so that it is holy and pleasing? Call on Jesus the consuming fire to come and cook what needs to be cooked and make it delicious.

A fire without God and righteousness in it destroys as was seen in Sodom and Gomorrah. And yet fire with God in it offers life. Fire with God in it is a good thing. Let your faith and life be ignited by Jesus.

When Christ Died On The Cross, Our Hopes Began – Hope, Assurance And Comfort Quotes – Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

“The iron bolt which so mysteriously fastens the door of hope and holds our spirits in gloomy prison, needs a heavenly hand to push it back.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Of all the things in the world to be dreaded, despair is the chief. When a man is in the depths of despair, he is ready for all sorts of sins. When fear discourages him action is dangerous. But when fear has weakened him and his conscience is powerless to guide him, the vultures circle him waiting for their prey. As long as a man has hope for himself you may have hope for him.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“When Christ died on the cross, our hopes began. When He arose, they were confirmed. When He ascended on high, they began to be fulfilled. When He comes a second time, they will be realized.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“We need winds and tempests to exercise our faith, to tear off the rotten bough of self-dependence, and to root us more firmly in Christ. The day of evil reveals to us the value of our glorious hope.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“My sole hope for heaven lies in the full atonement made upon Calvary’s cross for the ungodly. On that I firmly rely.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“There is no hope for you but in Christ. Rest assured that all the mercy of God is concentrated in the Cross. I hear some talk about the uncovenanted mercies of God—there is no such things. The mercies of God are all emptied out into the Covenant. God has put all His grace into the Person of Christ and you shall have none elsewhere. Trust, then, in Christ—so you shall be blessed, but you shall be blessed nowhere else.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Grace within us will employ prayer, and faith, and hope, and love, to cast out the evil; it takes unto it the “whole armour of God,” and wrestles earnestly. These two opposing natures will never cease to struggle so long as we are in this world.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’s blood and righteousness: I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesu’s name.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Whatever troubles come, let us play the man; let us show that we are not such little children as to be cast down by what may happen in this poor fleeting state of time. Our country is Immanuel’s land, our hope is above the sky, and therefore, calm as the summer’s ocean; we will see the wreck of everything earth-born, and yet rejoice in the God of our salvation.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“The eclipse of your faith, the darkness of your mind, the fainting of your hope, all these things are but parts of God’s method of making you ripe for the great inheritance upon which you shall soon enter.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Waiting trains our grace. Waiting tries our faith. Therefore, wait on in hope, because even though the promise seems to be delayed, it can never come too late.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“It is of no use to hope that we shall be well rooted if no rough winds pass over us. Those old gnarlings on the root of the oak tree, and those strange twistings of the branches, all tell of the many storms that have swept over it, and they are also indicators of the depth into which the roots have forced their way. So the Christian is made strong, and firmly rooted by all the trials and storms of life. Shrink not then from the tempestuous winds of trial, but take comfort, believing that by their rough discipline God is fulfilling this benediction to you.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“If I am not today all that I hope to be, yet I see Jesus, and that assures me that I shall one day be like Him.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“And so my Master, who is the great ark of salvation, did not come into this world to save only a few little sinners. “He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him.” Look on him there. See him on the cross, in extreme agony, enduring countless griefs and torments, and sweating in agony, all because of his love for you who were his enemies. Trust him. Trust him, because there is hope, there is restoration.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“The bleeding, dying, rising Saviour, is the only star of hope to a sinner. Oh for grace to come now and drink, ere the sun sets upon the year’s last day!”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Moses grew weary, and then his friends assisted him. When at any time your prayer flags, let faith support one hand, and let holy hope uplift the other, and prayer seating itself upon the stone of Israel, the rock of our salvation, will persevere and prevail.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Our country is Immanuel’s land, our hope is above the sky, and therefore, calm as the summer’s ocean; we will see the wreck of everything earthborn, and yet rejoice in the God of our salvation.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Forgive, as you hope to be forgiven.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“One of these days you who are now a ‘babe’ in Christ shall be a ‘father’ in the church. Hope for this great thing; but hope for it as a gift of grace, and not as the wages of work, or as the product of your own energy.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“If thou canst wait for Christ, and be patient in the hope of having fellowship with him at some distant season, thou wilt never have fellowship at all; for the heart that is fitted for communion is a hungering and a thirsting heart.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“The delight which the mariner feels, when, after having been tossed about for many a day, he steps again upon the solid shore, is the satisfaction of a Christian when amidst all the changes of this troublous life, he rests the foot of his faith upon this truth—‘I am the Lord, I change not.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“I do not come into this pulpit hoping that perhaps somebody will of his own free will return to Christ. My hope lies in another quarter. I hope that my Master will lay hold of some of them and say, “You are mine, and you shall be mine. I claim you for myself.” My hope arises from the freeness of grace, and not from the freedom of the will.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“My hope lives not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died; my trust is not that I am holy, but that being unholy, He is my righteousness.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Experienced Christian, boast not in your experience; you will trip yet if you look away from him who is able to keep you from falling. Ye whose love is fervent, whose faith is constant, whose hopes are bright, say not, “We shall never sin,” but rather cry, “Lead us not into temptation.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“If you will select me the grossest specimen of humanity, if he be but born of woman, I will have hope of him yet, because Jesus Christ is come to seek and to save sinners.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“The day of evil reveals to us the value of our glorious hope.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“My hope lives not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died; my trust is not that I am holy, but that being unholy, he is my righteousness. My faith rests not upon what I am, or shall be, or feel, or know, but in what Christ is, in what he has done, and in what he is now doing for me.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“O Jesus, what a comfort it is that thou hast pleaded our cause against our unseen enemies; countermined their mines, and unmasked their ambushes. Here is a matter for joy, gratitude, hope, and confidence.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“And it seems to me I can, it seems to me I can open the little wicket gate, and cry, “There is hope!” The one who said there is no hope is a liar and a murderer from the beginning, and the father of lies. There is hope because Jesus died. There is hope everywhere except in the infernal lake of fire.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Value the blood of Christ as the foundation of your hope, but never speak disparagingly of the work of the Spirit which is your meetness for the inheritance of the saints in light. This day let us so live as to manifest the work of the Triune God in us.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“It is of no use to hope that we shall be well rooted—if no rough winds pass over us.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Men are in a restless pursuit after satisfaction in earthly things. They will exhaust themselves in the deceitful delights of sin, and, finding them all to be vanity and emptiness, they will become very perplexed and disappointed. But they will continue their fruitless search. Though wearied, they still stagger forward under the influence of spiritual madness, and though there is no result to be reached except that of everlasting disappointment, yet they press forward. They have no forethought for their eternal state; the present hour absorbs them. They turn to another and another of earth’s broken cisterns, hoping to find water where not a drop was ever discovered yet.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“When Christ died on the cross our hopes began, when he rose they were confirmed, when he went up on high they began to be fulfilled, when he comes a second time they will be realized.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“A man might as well hope to fight a swarm of flies with a sword as to master his own thoughts when they are set on by the devil.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“The eclipse of your faith, the darkness of your mind, the fainting of your hope, all these things are but parts of God’s method of making you ripe for the great inheritance upon which you shall soon enter. These trials are for the testing and strengthening of your faith–they are waves that wash you further upon the rock–they are winds which waft your ship the more swiftly towards the desired haven.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“We will this year gather celestial fruits on earthly ground, where faith and hope have made the desert like the garden of the Lord.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Blessed be His name that He has arranged that one Person of the Sacred Trinity should undertake this office of Comforter, for no man could ever perform its duties. We might as well hope to be the Savior as to be the Comforter of the heartbroken.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“If I had to sum up the gospel I should have to tell you certain facts: Jesus, the Son of God, became man; he was born of the virgin Mary; lived a perfect life; was falsely accused of men; was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God; from whence he shall also come to judge the quick and the dead. This is one of the elementary truths of our gospel; we believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and the life everlasting.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Oh, the wondrous power in the scripture to create a soul of hope within the ribs of despair and bring eternal light into the darkness that has made a long midnight in the inmost soul!”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“Nothing is more deadly than self-righteousness, or more hopeful than contrition.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“It is always beneficial to praise the Lord; it cheers the day and brightens the night; it lightens toil and softens sorrow; and over earthly gladness it sheds a sanctifying radiance which makes it less liable to blind us with its glare. Have we not something to sing about at this moment? Can we not weave a song out of our present joys, or our past deliverances, or our future hopes.”

It Is The Season Of The Blessed Hope – Hope, Assurance And Comfort Quotes – Aiden Wilson Tozer.

“The vague and tenuous hope that God is too kind to punish the ungodly has become a deadly opiate for the consciences of millions.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“Abounding sin is the terror of the world, but abounding grace is the hope of mankind.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“When God created the heavens and the earth, darkness was upon the face of the deep. When the Eternal Son became flesh, He was carried for a time in the darkness of the sweet virgin’s womb. When He died for the life of the world, it was in the darkness, seen by no one at the last. When He arose from the dead, it was ,’very early in the morning.” No one saw Him rise. It is as if God were saying, “What I am is all that need matter to you, for there lie your hope and your peace. I will do what I will do, and it will all come to light at last, but how I do it is My secret. Trust Me, and be not afraid.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“To believe actively that our Heavenly Father constantly spreads around us providential circumstances that work for our present good and our everlasting well-being brings to the soul a veritable benediction. Most of us go through life praying a little, planning a little, jockeying for position, hoping but never being quite certain of anything, and always secretly afraid that we will miss the way. This is a tragic waste of truth and never gives rest to the heart.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“Yet if we would know God and for other’s sake tell what we know we must try to speak of his love. All Christians have tried but none has ever done it very well. I can no more do justice to that awesome and wonder-filled theme than a child can grasp a star. Still by reaching toward the star the child may call attention to it and even indicate the direction one must look to see it. So as I stretch my heart toward the high shining love of God someone who has not before known about it may be encouraged to look up and have hope.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“The ancient image of God whispers within every man of everlasting hope; somewhere he will continue to exist. Still he cannot rejoice, for the light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world troubles his conscience, frightening him with proofs of guilt and evidences of coming death. So is he ground between the upper millstone of hope and the nether stone of fear.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“What God in His sovereignty may yet do on a world-scale I do not claim to know. But what He will do for the plain man or woman who seeks His face I believe I do know and can tell others. Let any man turn to God in earnest, let him begin to exercise himself unto godliness, let him seek to develop his powers of spiritual receptivity by trust and obedience and humility, and the results will exceed anything he may have hoped in his leaner and weaker days.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“Let us beware of tinkering with our inner life in hope ourselves to rend the veil. God must do everything for us. Our part is to yield and trust. We must confess, forsake, repudiate the self-life, and then reckon it crucified. But we must be careful to distinguish lazy “acceptance” from the real work of God. We must insist upon the work being done. We dare not rest content with a neat doctrine of self-crucifixion. That is to imitate Saul and spare the best of the sheep and the oxen.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“Holiness, as taught in the Scriptures, is not based upon knowledge on our part. Rather, it is based upon the resurrected Christ in-dwelling us and changing us into His likeness.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“The only cross in all of history that was turned into an altar was the cross on which Jesus Christ died. It was a Roman cross. They nailed Him on it, and God, in His majesty and mystery, turned it into an altar. The Lamb who was dying in the mystery and wonder of God was turned into the Priest who offered Himself. No one else was a worthy offering.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“Let any man turn to God in earnest, let him begin to exercise himself unto godliness, let him seek to develop his powers of spiritual receptivity by trust and obedience and humility, and the results will exceed anything he may have hoped in his leaner and weaker days.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“If you were fine like an archangel, made thousands of dollars, never failed and never fumbled, you would be a saint, and there would be no place in God’s grace for you. Because you are the kind of person you are and have fits of slipping back a little, the grace of God operates toward you. This is your hope. So I say, be cheerful, be hopeful, dare to rise and say, “I’ll not sit and be gloomy anymore. I will dare to believe that the grace of God, that vast grace of God, is big enough for me.”

Aiden Wilson Tozer

“Let us be alert to the season in which we are living. It is the season of the Blessed Hope, calling for us to cut our ties with the world and build ourselves on this One who will soon appear. He is our hope—a Blessed Hope enabling us to rise above our times and fix our gaze upon Him.”

How We Change Our World And Society For Better – Faith-in-jesus-christ/">Faith In Jesus Christ.

Is it possible for us to change the world and make society better for everyone?

Yes, it is possible. If we can get people to accept Jesus Christ and invite him to come into their lives to be Lord and Savior, then we can certainly change the world and make it a better place.

–By lifting Jesus Christ!

–By obeying Jesus Christ!

–By exalting Jesus Christ!

–By living for Jesus Christ!

–By following Jesus Christ!

–By glorifying Jesus Christ!
–By speaking about Jesus Christ!

–By sharing Jesus Christ with others!

–By worshipping and praising Jesus Christ!

Jesus is our passport to a better world.

Real and true change begins in the Spirit which is the source and it flows outward to affect the other parts of the being. Parts like the mind, soul, body, and heart.
If the spirit of a person is changed, then we can expect total and holistic change.
If we live by the spirit of Jesus instead of the flesh, then we have the power to put to death the lusts, desires, and cravings of the flesh.

For those who live according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, about the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God’s law, for it is unable to do so. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 Now if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through His Spirit who lives in you.

Romans 8:5-11

Who wouldn’t to live in a world full of Joy, love, peace and  righteousness? And that is what the Spirit of Jesus offers to all who believe in him and follow him.
The change begins from the inside, to the outside. And it doesn’t only have the power to change the individual but everything around and about them.

Our world is filled with evil. Increasing levels of murder, witchcraft, idolatry, adultery, cheating, rebellion, theft, deception, sexual perversion etc. And this wickedness and evil is not done secretly but openly. In fact it’s celebrated. The world needs to change for better otherwise we are headed into an abyss.

It may seem like a mammoth task, considering international aid and charity organizations are failing to change the world.
We can’t trust our humanitarian organizations to effect change anymore.
Only the Jesus Christ and his Holy Spirit can save us and bring about the change we so desperately need and are seeking and searching.
Let’s give our world and societies back to Jesus so that he can change them.

Hope And Justice When Faced With Difficulty And Injustice - Life Lessons From The Persistent Widow - Parable Blog Post Banner Image

Hope And Justice When Faced With Difficulty And Injustice – Life Lessons From The Persistent Widow – Parable.

Difficulty, adversity and hard times are part of life. We can’t avoid pain, disappointment, anguish, grief or calamity who-ever we are and where-ever we live. Sooner or later, these negatives will find each of us regardless of our class or station in Life. However, we need not despair the storms of life come our way. When faced with adversity, we can find comfort, justice, hope, love, joy and peace in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Christian journey of faith, there will be times when our faith will come under attack from the enemy. Times when we will feel hopeless and in despair because of seeming injustices done to us. And maybe there will also be times when we pray to God for something and he seem’s silent and distant.

We might even fast and go without various pleasures for days without any change or improvement in our situation. It can be frustrating and very tempting to give up our faith and hope in the Lord when situations like these arise.

Hope themed Calligraphy Abstract Letter Design Christian Wallpaper Screensaver.128

A few days ago I had a conversation with a friend who was going through some difficulties and she needed hope, comfort, inspiration and motivation to keep going. During our talk, one statement seemed to keep recurring, and it was, “Where do I find hope and comfort in the midst of all this chaos?

She kept telling me, “God seems to be silent this time. He has been faithful but this time it feels like he has disappeared.” She went further to say, “I’m not a bad person and I feel like I have done everything right. I go to Church regularly and though I can’t say I’m perfect, I know that I’m not committing any conscious sins. I feel righteous and yet I keep wondering why God doesn’t hear me. Isn’t he supposed to hear the prayers of the righteous?”

“It’s getting harder and harder to keep believing and going on as my situation seems to get worse.” I could empathize with her. I too had experienced situations in my life when I felt hopeless, alone and abandoned.

So, as we talked, the parable of the persistent widow came to mind because it was a particular one that had helped me to keep being persistent despite various difficulties I had faced in life. In my own words, I call the persistent widow, “The woman who refused to say NO when everything around her was pressuring her to say YES and to quit.”

Hope Christian Desktop, Laptop, Computer Wallpaper and Screensaver abstract lettered green floral colors

I call her the woman who chose not to give up despite the odds stacked against her. She is a testament to the power of persistence in breaking rocks and hardships. Her story is a testimony to the power of prayer to change situations and circumstances.

Luke one of Jesus’s twelve disciples writes her story. She was a widow who was faced with an adversity (he doesn’t tell us what the adversity was) and this great adversity drove her to seek help and justice from a Judge.

Unfortunately, this Judge kept turning her down and refusing her requests. Yet despite all this, she refused to be deterred. She kept pushing and pushing. Some may falsely call her behavior stubborn but she wasn’t stubborn like King Saul. To the contrary she was devoted like King David.

A singular devotion that kept her persistent until she finally got what she needed. The Parable, reminds us that our God is not cruel. Our God is a God of compassion and justice. Our God hears our cries and various pleas, and one day soon, he will give us the justice we need.

Are you facing an adversity and a hard situation?
Are you having difficulty maintaining your faith in Jesus because of a calamity or crisis?
Are you seeking and looking for comfort for your aches and pains?

Well, I have a simple answer for you and his name is Jesus. Go to Jesus and tell him what the challenge is. Talk to him. Seek him. Plead with him. Search for him. Pray to him unceasingly! His word says if we seek him with our hearts, we shall find him.

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 4:29

Finding hope in the midst of turbulence

The Parable Of The Persistent Widow:

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think,
yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!'”
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.
And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Luke: 18. 1-8

Healing From Alcoholism – Hope – Powerful Stories.

Addiction is a real bondage and struggle for many people in our world today. Alcohol, Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Cigarettes, Sex, Porn, Violence, Dirty Language, Shopping and the List goes on and on.

The amplification in the number of people suffering addiction might explain the increase in the number of Rehabilitation centers, services and health workers.

Addiction not only causes challenges for the person who is bound but also for his/her family, friends and the community.

With the strong pull and lack of self-control that many addicts experience, is there hope for freedom?

With addicts fresh from Rehab, relapsing and ending right back in treatment, is there healing and redemption?

Self-control is one of the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. Self-control helps us say no to addictions, sin and iniquity.

Are you struggling to quit a behavior that is holding you captivity and bound?

Then come to Jesus, repent and ask him to fill you with his Holy Spirit. There is always room at the cross and Jesus is eagerly waiting for you.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,

6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,

7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:5-8

To give further inspiration and encouragement, I’m sharing the story of Billy Buc who struggled with Alcoholism for many years but managed to break free from his addiction and has been sober for 9 years. He starts one of his articles by giving us some amazing news.

“On November 16th I celebrated nine years of sobriety. Life is good! I have completely changed my life in nine years. I have completely changed my lifestyle in nine years, and I’ve completely…..”

Normal Fear Protects Us – Abnormal Fear Paralyses – Courage, Strength And Bravery Quotes – Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. who was born on January 15 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and assassinated at 39 years on April 4th 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, lived a remarkable life. At 15 years, he joined Morehouse college. At 26, he had obtained his PHD and Doctorate in Systematic Theology from Boston University. By 34 he had already carried out many social activist campaigns and given his famous and land mark speech, “I have a Dream.”

When he was 35 years old, he was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent resistance to racial prejudice in America. As the World remembers and Celebrate’s his life, his work and his birthday, I collected some of his most Iconic quotes on Courage, Strength and Fortitude.

“Courage is an inner resolution to go forward despite obstacles; Cowardice is submissive surrender to circumstances. Courage breeds creativity; Cowardice represses fear and is mastered by it. Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience ask the question, is it right? And there comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ Vanity asks the question, ‘Is it popular?’ But Conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“A riot is at bottom the language of the unheard.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“If a man hasn’t discovered something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“When you are right, you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“The question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“I came to the conclusion that there is an existential moment in your life when you must decide to speak for yourself; nobody else can speak for you.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Normal fear protects us; abnormal fear paralyses us. Normal fear motivates us to improve our individual and collective welfare; abnormal fear constantly poisons and distorts our inner lives. Our problem is not to be rid of fear but, rather to harness and master it.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Every man of humane convictions must decide on the protest that best suits his convictions, but we must all protest.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“The soft-minded man always fears change. He feels security in the status quo, and he has an almost morbid fear of the new. For him, the greatest pain is the pain of a new idea.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“No one really knows why they are alive until they know what they’d die for.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Nothing worthwhile is gained without sacrifice.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“For when people get caught up with that which is right and they are willing to sacrifice for it, there is no stopping point short of victory.”

Is There Hope For Television

Is There Hope For Television Blog Post Banner Image

Is There Hope For Television.

Is there hope for television? Is there hope for movies or our world in general?

Every time my hope dims, because a new Law has passed or I read an unsettling news story or I watch something on television, the Lord graciously opens a door of Hope in my despair to let me know that he is in control regardless of how things might look.  And after all the scandals and news stories that keep flowing out of Hollywood, I need the assurance.

A friend was trying to convince me to celebrate Christmas during December. So, she sent me a Youtube Movie Clip Titled, “This Movie Changed The Way I Feel About Christmas – The Shepherd Pilot Episode – The Chosen.

Now, while the Shepherd Movie it’s self didn’t change my mind about celebrating Christmas in December, It changed my Mind about something even much greater. Revival for our World. Revival for Television.

For so long now, our Televisions have produced some very wicked shows and we have silently watched as, the quality of material keeps getting darker and more evil.

From sexual immorality, to violence, to blasphemy, to deceit, to murder and the list goes on and on. And it hasn’t only been with adult shows but this, Fever (allow me call it that) has swept even children shows and cartoons.

However watching the Shepherd Pilot and what the Director Dallas Jenkins and his Team have purposed to do, I’m encouraged and very hopeful that our Televisions are going to undergo a Spiritual Revival. Yes, there is hope for Television still.

One might be tempted to ask, why do I have hope? Well, allow me tell you a few things about The Shepherd Episode which is part of The Chosen project and then tell me if you don’t feel Hope bubbling inside you too:

1. According to the VidAngel blog, “The Chosen, is going to be a Multi-Season TV show about Jesus Christ as seen through the Eyes of the Sinners who knew him best.”

2. The project is supported by Ravi Zacharias who is world renown Christian Apologetic, Philosopher, Theologian and Author who has written various books namely, “Why Jesus?: Rediscovering His Truth in an Age of Mass Marketed Spirituality.”

3. The Show also has the backing of Tim Winter who is the President of the Parents Television Council and had this to say about The Chosen Project, “In Hollywood, epic books become marquee motion pictures and memorable television series. So why hasn’t the most epic book in human history become a television series? With so much darkness coming from Hollywood’s creative community, this series absolutely must be made; and Dallas Jenkins has proven that he’s able to do it right.”  I totally agree with him.

4. The chosen will have Biblical Accuracy and the Team is going to enlist Bible Scholars and Rabbi to make sure they get the scriptures right. An example of this is shown in a Clip where Rabbi Jason Sobel explains the Significance of Swaddling Clothes that Jesus was wrapped in when he was born.

With the few tidbits of information just released by the team, the show is promising to give a Spiritual revolution to television and how we experience it. I can’t wait for when they finally go live.

And I’m so grateful to the Director Dallas Jenkins and his team that includes Derral Eves, Matthew Faraci and others, for taking this bold move and saying we are going to change Television for Jesus Christ. Thank you so much!

Indeed Hope bubbles in my heart.

And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.

17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

1 Peter 3:13-17

To Give Them Beauty For Ashes – Hope In Jesus Christ

To Give Them Beauty For Ashes – Hope In Jesus Christ.

Sometime’s life burns us. Many of us walk through life burnt by our experiences.

  • Pain.
  • Failure.
  • Divorce.
  • Sickness and disease.
  • Death of loved ones.
  • Loss of jobs and careers.
  • Romantic relationships gone sore.
  • Disappointments from family members.
  • Betrayal from friends and family.

And as we go through life, many of carry our ashes in jars. We carry around our ashes in the form of pain and bitterness, not willing to let go. Despite all the pain, bitterness and ashes that we carry around, can we learn to find beauty in the ashes?

Can our ashes carry blessings despite their ugliness and dolor?

Many centuries before Jesus came to this Earth, the prophet Isaiah prophesied about Jesus, telling us what the ministry of the Messiah would be about:

“To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:3

And when Jesus came, he confirmed Isaiah’s words as told by the Apostle Luke:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” 20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”

Luke 4:18-22

Even to this day, Jesus is still able to give us:

  • Beauty for Ashes
  • Plenty for Scarcity
  • Pleasure for Pain
  • Healing for Sickness
  • Laughter for Sorrow
  • Praise for Suffering
  • Worship for Self-pity
  • Blessings for Curses

Thank God, we can find beauty in our ashes. Katie Noah Gibson courageously shares her experiences in how she found blessings in the ashes.

“I flipped the kitchen calendar to April this weekend, as a mix of snow and sleet swirled down outside the windows. This wasn’t quite the April Fool’s blizzard of 20 years ago, but it was still a proper nor’easter: more like February than April. Both Nature’s clock and my internal one seem to be off……”
