Building A Dependable Character – Part 2 – Triumphal Meal.
“But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel. Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me. But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
So, Heaven is a perfect environment and ruled by a perfect God therefore the question whether we can live a perfect life or not should be dropped henceforth. However, any believer that think it is impossible to have a perfect character is not ready for heaven. God has sanitized heaven before now and it was not difficult for HIM to throw out one of HIS trusted Arch Angel Lucifer because of character flaw.
As a matter of fact, we have three arch angels in heaven appointed by God with different responsibilities . Angel Lucifer was saddle with responsibilities of choir but was caught with abysmal character and immediately God sent him out of heaven because heaven is a perfect environment prepared for perfect saints.
“Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.”
In this edition, we shall be looking at the importance of character and how we can build it overtime.
A good name is built through character and through name integrity is built therefore character is very important than wealth in every endeavors of life.
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Why is character important?
1. Character provides you identity.
“And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.” 1 Samuel 9:6
It was character that distinguished Samuel among others in his time. Samuel was known as a honourable man of God with integrity therefore he got himself an identity that other people lack in their days. Show me a man with good identity and I will show a man of Centre of attraction.
2. Character has the capacity to announce a man.
“But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.” Philippians 2:19-22
Uncle Timotheus was announced within and abroad in his time because of good character he had built with Apostle Paul. As a matter of fact , Paul said the only like minded man that I know and I can trust even among other disciples is Uncle Timotheus. What a testimony? You do not need social media to be advertised just build for yourself a trusted character and the media will come knocking at your door step.
3. Character guarantees you heaven.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
A perfect character guarantee you a mansion among mansions that Jesus Christ has gone to prepared for the saints. Heaven is the home coming of noble and dependable character.
How do we build character?
Of course we can build character through relationship with God.
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:24
Until you understand the difference between walking with God and working for God you will not go far in the kingdom.
Walking with God is the most important thing because that is what builds relationship between man and God. God prefers relationship with Him far above your service unto Him.
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
God told Abram here point blank that relationship is first among other therefore if you must obtain the promise then work on your character because I the Almighty God value relationship more than anything you could imagine.
Hello sir/ma, it is your relationship with God that guarantees your Sonship.
Lastly ,we can build character through purpose.
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”
Every man of purpose is a man of character. Many Christians today have compromised their faith because of cheap offer. Lot of ladies have lost their virginity because of job opportunity or money. Some guys have sold their birth rights because of porridge.
It was not difficult for Daniel to remain focus and sustain his godly attitude even in the midst of ungodly people because Daniel has a purpose. A man of purpose don’t abuse opportunity but rather maximize it. Reason why some people misbehave is because they lack purpose and fear of God.
“There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
This kind of statement confirmed that Joseph fear God and was a man of purpose. I will end up with this saying that when the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable.
“And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?”
It is your relationship with God that guarantees your sonship.
Father deliver me from every bad character standing as a legal ground in my life for enemy.
